2018, reflections of my year, wow…where do I start? I have been putting off this blog for days knowing that I will need to stop and think about all that this year has brought. I don’t like that one of my worst traits is procrastination, but I have worked hard this year to beat that bad habit.

Babymoon Doula has become a reality, a real thing!

I have been welcomed into 35 homes this year as a Birth and Postpartum Doula, this would not have happened without a lot of people. Nutmeg Consulting, my niece Sharon Shakespeare, my family, my friends (and so many new friends!) and Doula Canada. To all of you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have allowed me to follow my dreams and passion for families, babies, women….. you have all listened to me, supported me and made me feel like I could do anything that I set my mind to.

To all the families that have allowed me to hold your precious bundles of perfection I thank you and cannot express in words how much your trust means to me. It truly takes a village to raise children, to get through the night, to have a nap after a tough night, to have dinner ready for you, and some fresh sheets on the bed. Tears, laughter and hugs.

I am excited for the new year. Follow your heart and do what makes you happy. Being a Doula is a way of life and I am so grateful to be living it. In the words of Mylie Cyrus, I feel so much younger now, it’s all just like a dream – that is how this work makes me feel.

Happy New Year everyone,  celebrate your victories and leave the stresses of last year behind you. The challenges behind you have made you who you are right now, live with no regrets!!!

Cheers,

Carissa
